Me, reviewing the half-assed outline I wrote a while ago for my next WIP:
I’ve seen so many people debate how to do Psylocke in the mcu and most opinions stress me out so I might as well share mine. While I really do not like the idea of Kwannon in the mcu if they want to do Psylocke she has to be Psylocke, not Betsy. Lots of people saying just make Betsy half-Japanese and ignore Kwannon but that just continues the shittiness of the bodyswap by giving everything to Betsy and ignoring Kwannon once again which will screw her over in the comics and cause confusion for new comic readers when it’s already confusing enough.
Kwannon has to be Psylocke from the beginning, and honestly, I would prefer if the two characters really had no connection to each other and would be perfectly fine if we never see them interact. Although, if they had to have a history with each other they could have some sort of feud from when Kwannon was part of The Hand and Betsy was part of S.T.R.I.K.E , which can lead to an explanation on why they have similar powers.
I’ve seen a few people suggest that they should make Kwannon Psylocke but just give her all of Betsy’s storylines when Betsy was Ninja Psylocke, such as Uncanny X-Force and the 90s X-Men. While this is better than completely ignoring Kwannon, I would prefer to see her as herself, not as another person just with her name. Also, Betsy can still have all of her storylines just without the ninja aspect.
I would introduce Kwannon in a Wolverine movie as either Nyoirin’s prime assassin or as a solo assassin who escaped The Hand. Since Logan and Matsu'o have a history in the comics, it would be easy to have both Kwannon and Logan meet through hunting down Matsu'o. Give Kwannon and Matsu'o a backstory that they were in love but Matsu'o betrayed her, causing her to despise him. Matsu'o could have a connection to the loss of her daughter or knows how to find the remains of her daughter, which can lead to her alliance with Sinister or her joining the X-Men, or both.
I do not trust the mcu to do Kwannon any justice, really the bare minimum is giving Kwannon her own storyline and personality, which even that is unlikely. Also, Psylocke had never been a character that people seem interested in adapting. In every single adaption she’s never a character that’s focused on so there’s a high chance the mcu will only have her there as a background character that wont get any depth or focus. This isn’t really a bad thing and they can just keep it vague on whether it’s Kwannon or Betsy like past live-action adaptions have done.
Sometimes I find it deeply and darkly hilarious about the moment magneto must have found that twins are his children. Like he must have thought -shit!!! They can't be mine, they won't likely accept me!!! Even he knows somewhere deep down, he majorly majorly screwed up and they won't accept him as their father. And I don't think he has majorly tried to repair relations from his side, he actually killed pietro!!?!! And when pietro was actually right and wanted to save wanda!
Like how can he expect their love when he was the one who abused his power to terrorize them in brotherhood Era. Even though he didn't know that wanda and pietro were his kids, he did, however deeply hurt them. I mean, the relationship between them was going to dysfunctional from start. Maybe that is why editorial is not showing magda as alive, and marya connected with twins- they both would have killed magneto several times over.
I can't believe people (and marvel editors) who want to see wanda as pure daddy's girl. Like atleast, show the growth how they patched up their relation, they could even start with the convo that how their children have been raised by other people-it can be a good introspective and bonding topic. And we need more pietro Lorna moments again, I feel she is at the moment more supportive than wanda. Poor Pietro is always the villain in Wanda's story. He also should be at x men related teams- I feel he gets more good character arc there.
Marvel doesn’t do complex families well, I’ve said this before and will probably engrave it on my headstone. Marvel literally erases everything that makes people interested in the characters to have this generic take that’s so bland and boring.
I don’t think Erik ever really expected their acceptance or forgiveness, because the highlight of the issue where he reveals his connection to them isn’t “I’m your father” it’s “I’m Luna’s grandfather”
Vision and the Scarlet Witch (1982) #4
Which again to me speaks volumes about how broken Erik’s relationship between himself and his children are before he even knew them for who they were. And personally I feel that Erik tries harder to foster a relationship with his grandkids than his actual children because he’s grandkids are still young enough for him to shape himself in their minds/lives but also they are a generation removed from him, there’s space there for him to attempt an actual relationship without the constant reminder of his past, especially the loss of his first daughter.
This is why he viewed Luna as a fresh new step on his path towards redemption, at least in his grandkids eyes, and why marvel constantly cutting Luna out of the narrative only harms the family dynamic. Even Pietro thinks it’s all a trick, that’s his first thought when Erik reveals their connection, because of their tumultuous past with the Brotherhood. There could be so much interpersonal introspection and character dynamics if Marvel would JUST LET SOMEONE COMPETENT WRITE THEM.
Instead all we get is some half assed “Lorna and Wanda are his daddy’s girls and pietro is the screw up” found family bullshit. Found family does not work with them. Their blood/biological connection was the only tie holding them together because of their past. There’s no way the in character writing would any of them have anything to do with Erik if they weren’t his bio kids.
We were actually discussing this in the Magnet Family discord the other week how close Pietro is with Lorna, and how good their dynamic is and how it differs from Wanda’s. Also how the three of them never actually get good on panel time together. I definitely agree that Pietro is better off on the X-Men adjacent teams than on the Avengers.
“ai is making it so everyone can make art” Everyone can make art dipshit it came free with your fucking humanity
Oh gee, you’re right! Why didn’t the people who can’t even move their arms think of just making a painting? /s
And before anyone starts spouting some “art is more than just painting” spiel, you don’t know what kind of art someone might need to make in order to express their vision. An artist may have a very specific idea in mind to create the perfect piece of graphic art, and using music, performance, etc. just won’t cut it for them. AI is a tool that can help the disabled in so many ways. Not even just with art. Get off your high horse and accept that disabled people have different needs and, guess what, ABILITIES than you do. Fuck you, asshole.
you are a tar pit.
and you are ableist.
you’re fighting against a tool that makes art more accessible, and actively dismissing the notion that it could even possibly be doing that. this IS ableist. YOU are the tar pit in this situation.
L+Ratio+It doesn’t+i slept w your mom
Hi I’m disabled I’m crippled I have a disorder that makes my fingers suddenly dislocate while I’m holding my pencil I have a spinal issue that makes it hard for me to bend over a desk half of the time I have leg issues that make it difficult for me to get around etc etc etc. I also have a bunch of other issues I don’t want to tell you about.
I’m also in art college. And even if I wasn’t, I’ve been doing art for almost a decade now. I’ve been disabled the whole bloody time.
AI, isn’t art.
There are many disabled artists and we have adapted our own ways of dealing with how we create. Fuck you, we have been doing this forever.
Vincent Van Gogh had temporal lobe epilepsy; Henri Matisse became a wheelchair user after surgery for cancer; Michelangelo had osteoarthritis, limiting mobility and causing pain in his hands and feet.
Paul Smith had a severe case of cerebral palsy and created art using typewriters.
Peter Longstaff has no arms due to Thalidomide, and paints with his feet.
Frida Kahlo not only had polio that disabled her as a child, but of course as we all know was injured in a bus accident at the age of 18, which caused her lifelong pain and medical problems.
Fuck, you want a personal annecdote? I knew a girl (we have lost touch since) who was paralysed from the neck down and she painted with her mouth and there are other artists who do so too! And with eye tracking technology I’m sure disabled artists will be getting more and more tools as the years pass. But we do NOT condone AI art. All that does is put us, real disabled artists, who exist and need support, out of jobs and commissions.
Fuck you.
hi, another disabled person here for more personal anecdotes! here is an art piece i made entirely with my non dominant hand 1 week before my most recent shoulder surgery on that same arm. i also wear splint rings to keep my fingers from dislocating while painting (or playing bass guitar cause i do that too). i make most of my income off hand painted art despite having hand tremors, frequent wrist dislocations/subluxations, and migraines.
my friend and her wife also make their incomes off wig making, leatherwork, and digital collage prints. both have chronic pain as well.
our lines arent perfect because we have shaky hands but thats ok, make it a feature not a flaw in your art. fuck AI.
Anyone who thinks physically disabled people need to use art stealing AI to make our own art is the ableist, actually.
Mine isn’t as drastic (yet) but I’ve been having to wear wrist braces and finger splints since childhood off and on because using my hands in a repetitive motions causes them to be in pretty excruciating pain.
What is my art medium of choice? Knitting. You know, that thing where you have to do a repetitive motion over and over again. I hold my needles a bit strange, I knit through the pain, I sometimes have to give up working on it for weeks at a time. But I will not stop because it’s what makes my heart sing.
Disabled artists don’t need your pity, we’ve been getting by, doing what makes us happy despite the pain and hardships for thousands of years, probably longer, I bet there were neolithic disabled artists.
No actual real artist wants or uses AI, including disabled artists. AI is for losers who are scared of the extremely important phase in art where you suck and want to skip it by stealing and not even in a cool “I’m emulating your style because I wanna learn from it” way.
Go suck at art for a couple years like the rest of us and stop talking over disabled artists.
@joshua-beeking this post might be for you
As a physically disabled artist, I couldn’t agree more with this post, and I couldn’t yell that last part loud enough:
“ Disabled artists don’t need your pity, we’ve been getting by, doing what makes us happy despite the pain and hardships for thousands of years, probably longer, I bet there were neolithic disabled artists.
No actual real artist wants or uses AI, including disabled artists. AI is for losers who are scared of the extremely important phase in art where you suck and want to skip it by stealing and not even in a cool "I’m emulating your style because I wanna learn from it” way.

this could all be resolved by fixing the typo
ai is making it so everyone can
makefake art
Poor Hellion (Julian Keller)…he has become another victim of the Terrigen Mists (a.k.a Inhuman Farts) that affects mutants. Though I am glad that the new normal-looking inhuman Synapse (Emily Guerrero) of the Avengers Unity Squad calls Medusa and the Inhumans (and I blame Black Bolt too) out on their dickery about releasing the terrigen mists into Earth and forcibly transforming some humans into Inhumans without consent as well as making mutants sick.
